Job Description

Role: Manager, Taxation

 

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Taxation to join our finance team. The Manager, Taxation will report to the Director, Financial Reporting and be responsible for coordinating all aspects of tax compliance and planning for the organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Canadian tax laws and regulations, strong technical expertise, and a proven track record of managing tax functions in a corporate environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to third-party tax advisor in preparation and filing of Canadian and US corporate, partnership and trust tax returns
  • Assist with tax compliance as it relates to acquisitions, amalgamations and wind ups
  • Liaise with CRA and provincial tax authorities on audits, reviews and notices
  • Coordinate with external auditors on tax-related matters and provide support for tax audits and inquiries
  • Oversee the preparation of tax provisions and related financial disclosures in accordance with IFRS
  • Work collaboratively with external tax advisors on complex and international tax matters
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for tax related questions across the group
  • Conduct tax research and analysis as directed and advise management on impact to the organization, potential risks and opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation required.
  • 5 years of progressive experience in tax roles, ideally with at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership position.
  • In-depth knowledge of Canadian tax laws, regulations, and principles.
  • Strong technical expertise in tax compliance, planning, and strategy.
  • Experience with tax provision calculations and financial reporting requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
